Royal Moorman Karton

by Luca Salvadori

A Tale of Excellence in the World of Paper

Can you tell us briefly the history of your company ?

Since 1912 Royal Moorman Karton has been a manufacturer & wholesaler in cardboard, paper and related products and it has been titled Royal since 2012.

Royal Moorman Karton was first established in Jordan district in Amsterdam and then in 1970 it moved its offices and production facilities to Weesp (more than 11000m2). On top of this, a large warehouse of 9000m2 is located in Winschoten.

We are a unique Dutch, family owned company known for its high quality products such as Museumboard, Matboard and Foamboard. All products are manufactured in our own factory using only the highest standard of raw materials. For this reason and thanks to its long history, Royal Moorman Karton has built up a particularly good reputation around the world.

In addition to its activities as a manufacturer, our company also acts as a wholesaler in a very wide range of the most diverse types of cardboard and sheets materials.

Which is the strength of your company ?

For many years we have been active in the framing industry and we have made a name for ourselves as a supplier of beautiful and high-quality materials.
Because of our experience and flexibility, we are able to meet our customers’ requests as much as possible in most cases and if we do not have the solution immediately available, we will look for it.

Despite the current situation on the raw materials market, we will continue to do our utmost to remain a reliable partner for our loyal and valued customers in our home country and abroad.

How did your company adapt to market changes ?

Despite the fact that the framing industry is traditional in nature, we have noticed that there is an increasing demand for more high-quality, thicker and larger size kartons.

Do you think that the FamaArt exhibition is fundamental for your business and the one of our customers ?

The SACA fair before and nowadays FamaArt have always been good for our company. In the beginning we have been able to make a lot of new customers and currently it gives us the possibility to meet most of them. We believe that being active in the picture framing business exhibiting or visiting this fair is an absolute must!

How do you see the future of the framing world ?

The global economic situation currently is not in good shape, which certainly has an impact on our trade. After all, a work of art on the wall is a luxury product and is certainly not one of the first necessities of life. Nevertheless, we believe in the future of the framing industry because everybody needs a picture on the wall, it gives your home a beautiful and cozy look (especially when it is framed with our matboard 😊). It certainly gives people a nice and comfortable feeling in this strange period.

All in all, not bad for a human being!
